As the world’s third-largest communications and engagement network, MSLGROUP has a unique perspective on the conversation age. Several of our agencies have events expertise—PublicisLive, Emotion, PBJS, Publicis Meeting and Publicis Events—and they know better than anyone the impact that important gatherings can have on industries, markets and the people who buy goods and services.
Of particular relevance to this blog is the Monaco Media Forum, created, organized and programmed by PublicisLive. Taking place for the fifth consecutive year November 10-12 in Monte-Carlo, it will gather some 400 leaders of the world’s largest media and technology companies and start-ups. This year’s theme: mobile technology.
Hans Vestburg, CEO of Ericsson and one of the event co-chairs, predicts that there will be 50 billion connected mobile devices—from phones to tablets to products not even imagined yet—by 2020. In this sense, MMF 2010 helps to set the stage (pardon the pun) for the next decade of mobile innovation.
“All these mobile devices are forcing companies to reset their business models,” says PublicisLive Executive Chairman John Rossant.
The forum chatter is already heating up virtually, as we would expect in our “always on” times. Marketing and communications professionals are welcome to join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter. And follow the event on Twitter at #monacomf10. Swiss start-up Paper.li, one of the forum’s media partners, will publish a newspaper based on the Twitter activity. Only time will tell what the big issues will be.
