News from Asia today exemplifies MSLGROUP’s standing as a trusted adviser:
Johan Björkstén, chairman of MSL China, has been appointed as the founding director of Global Corporate Culture Research Center. Founded by Chinese super-entrepreneur Li Shufu, the center brings together leading Chinese and international academics such as Oded Shenkar, Ohio State University Fisher College of Business; Professor Marjorie A. Lyles, Indiana University Kelley School of Business, and Wu Changqi of Peking University Guanghua School of Management with the objective of providing research, insights and consultation services to Chinese and multinational companies on how to create truly global organizations and brands.
Li Shufu, Founder and Chairman of Chinese automaker Geely, which recently acquired Volvo Car Corporation from Ford, officially announced Björkstén as a Founding Member during an inauguration ceremony at the Sanya Xueyuan, Hainan University earlier this month.
Commenting on his new role, Johan said, “The globalization of Chinese brands will be one of the most exciting business trends in the next decades. I admire Li a lot and have found it incredibly inspiring to work with him and his team. It is a great honour for me to deepen our cooperation and to be able to contribute to the continued success of his and other Chinese companies.”
Here, Johan speaks about the objectives of the organisation and globalization of Chinese brands:
Having been in China for the last 20 years, I have seen many changes – economic, political and social – and one of the most fascinating developments we are seeing now is the globalisation of Chinese brands.
I was really excited when Chinese super-entrepreneur Li Shufu, invited me to join the new Global Corporate Culture Research Center he has recently founded. The two of us have been discussing the idea for close to a year, and it is great to see this initiative come to fruition.
The objectives of this organization will be to provide research, insights and consultation services to Chinese and multinational companies on how to create truly global organizations and brands. This is something Li Shufu has unique experience in, with his company Geely having recently acquired Volvo Car Corporation from Ford.
